Based on the idea that when we are given a challenge we should rise to the occasion and attempt to do something different and creative the idea of sending a hard copy blog for the Wise Words project seemed logical.

Symbolic of the learning one should gain during a lifetime the idea of presenting my sixteen year old self with a product of the 21C and projecting it back into the mid 20C appealed to my sense of curiosity.  Writing it I began to imagine what it would be like to have such a futuristic message presented to me in an age when computers were machines monitored by geeks, and the Premium Bond selector was just an idea.  The idea that much of our lives would be monitored by, and would revolve around the electronic media was the figment of sci-fi writers.  The movie 2001 - A Space Odyssey was a curiosity and quite marvellous, and at sixteen it was still in my future.

Today's sixteen year old will possibly think of a blog as being a little archaic having been exposed to the social media sites such as Facebook, and familiar with You Tube, and will also have discovered how to design a website using the HTML and more language, taking for granted the complex programs made especially for the purpose.   The development of the smart phone with its multifunctions, and the further development of Text language he or she will be familiar with will make my blog look, in the language of a now redundant phrase "So Last Year!" 

Perhaps somebody using the same starting point, addressing a younger self over a long period of years, can use Txt to communicate?

This blog will hopefully encourage that.
